Is it illegal for a service provider to debit your account but not send you a bill?

My account has been debited for a phone bill but still no sign of a bill with details of the costs.
I've contacted them twice over the last 2 weeks but still no luck. Surely service providers have to give you some notice of how much they're taking out of your account.

Answers:
Any time that you purchase goods or services, a receipt must be available, detailing how much paid, to who and for what. If theu cannot produce a receipt, then there is no money due. They cannot demand payment if they cannot produce one.

Invoices are the exact same.

If they fail to produce a receipt/ invoice, you cna claim that the money is not due to them, and claim it back through your bank.

Contact them a third time, and still no luck, speak to your bank. Ussually, the prospect of a company getting faced with a recalled transaction is enough to make them pay attention.
Some people email you your bills.
check its not an online bill. my orange phone is billed online and i never see a bill they dont even email me it - you have to log on to view it. lots of companies do this now. o2 do and so do egg.
Perfectly legal. .because it is a service you agreed to for a certain amount each month. Most creditors have a notice on their statements that you are still obligated to pay even if you don't receive a statement.
