Uni part time job?

I am going to uni and am a little unconfident when it comes to starting a new job. I don't fancy working in a pub. tried it at wetherspoons and they never trained me at all which made it so hard and stressful. I told them I have never used a till before or worked with the public. It has put me off in working in a pub. The thought of it scares me and I don't want that sort of stress.
Has anyone good any good suggestions as to what a good part time job at uni would be, that has flexible hours and may have evening options too?

Answers:
Yeh, shop work.

It's p*ss easy. You can doss without usally getting fired. You get to meet usually another large group of people.

PLUS, it will help to slowly build you confidence in dealing with the public and people generally.

I never had confidence issues when i started uni 3 years ago now, but of couse i have grown up a hell of a lot and i am way more confident as a person.

I too got shop work (for money, not confidence!) whilst at uni and it's easy money, and usually you'll be working with other school/college/uni sutdents, which is cool - a good mix of people.

Anyway, a big PLUS is actually going to uni in the first place. Now that you are away from home, I can guarantee that at the end of the first year, you will look back to your first day there and see how much you have changed!

You will be a completely different person and uni is a great way of growing up and getting a very good level of confidence.

Make the most of it (ESPECIALLY in your first year, which is basically f all work but a hell of a lot of drink!), and if you dont ever end up using your degree, the experience itself is worth it.

Just be sociable and make sure you quickly get to know your hallmates to settle yourself into uni life quickly!

Restaurants and supermarkets are generally good options. Babysitting if you enjoy working with children. It pays less, but you can generally still do your own thing. And keep in mind that not all places are the same. Most places do train you.
And depending on what you are going to study, you could also opt for tutoring high school kids.
If you can get in with a Supermarket, you'll get plenty of hours - students are usually given a standard 1 evening & 1 weekend day & then you can work extra hours if they're about.
KFC etc offer the same sort of working shifts but don't pay well (but you do get to eat for free).
High Street clothes store - again weekend work but no evening work,
The problem is the flexibility option you're looking for. I worked during my summer hols and for a bit during the Uni year and none of the folk I worked for were very flexible because I was at Uni.
I started uni a year ago (i'm a mature student) and had worked for 6 years previously as a support worker, and a year on I am still looking for a part time job. Pubs seem to be the best option when it comes to part-time jobs because of the evening shifts. However, if you aren't confident front of house why not look for a job in a restaurant/pub in the kitchen area such as a kitchen assistant/porter
Depends what you're good at. I was a session guitarist and reporter for a music paper - and graduated rich.
Fast Food joint, you will get to eat for free - great when you're a student! It'll also bring you out of yourself a bit more and you will make loads of new friends.
Another good point is they promote from within and it is really easy to become a Shift Manager whilst doing your degree - management experience before you leave college will look excellent on your cv.
Good luck, you should have some fun.

Well sweety, bite the bullet and give the pub a try. You certainly won't really know unless you try. If it works, you are ahead. If it fails, chock it up as a learning experience, since we learn more from failure than from success. This is life. You can make good money as a bartender or waiter. And if successful, you are mobile and can work anywhere. The job will improve your people skills and that is so important.

You should like a whinny female, so here is an alternate suggestion. Here in USA we have several female products sales positions open all over the country. Check out Mary Kay and Avon. If interested, first spend a few hours searching the Internet for advise and comment about MK & A. You can easily get over your head.

Bite the bullet and give it a try.
Good Luck,
