How and who would I present any idears of new or different varients of usefull products I often think up.?

Answers:
Put all the details of your design in an envelope, send it to yourself recorded delivery, and keep it unopened. that way you've got a record of your idea and a date by which you'd had it (not as good as a patent, but some security nonetheless.)

THEN either
1) google "business angel" for some potential investors, and get making the product. If it's big enough then you might want to look at the venture capital markets after a while. this method is risky, it's a lot of work but the rewards are potentially very high.

or

2) send the plans to a few companies that make similar things, and invite offers for them to make it under license. all you need to do is get a solicitor to check the agreement they send you (if they send you one) and then sit back and collect royalties. rewards aren't going to be as high as going it alone but it's low-risk and doesn't involve much effort, and you don't have to know what you're doing so much.

Good luck!

Omigod! I know what you mean.I come up with ideas and think 'why hasn't somebody invented that'? Then I think 'maybe I should do something about it', but I haven't a clue what to do. I asked on Y/A and the response I got were 'get your idea Patented'. That isn't the answer I was looking for, cos it costs a fortune and your not guaranteed to that your product will come to anything, then you have to make a Prototype! How do you start doing that??? So frustrating! If you find out, can you please let me know. thanks
Its one thing to think of an idea another to do something about it.

If you are confident of a product you need to patent the idea for security. If you have no cash to develop the idea then you will have to attempt to liscense the product or sell the prouct to someone whom is already in the market place ie you come up with a new idea for a car you sell it to Ford. Unless you develop the product yourself you will not make millions, if a large company thinks your idea is great they will get around your patents be reinventing it.

If Dyson had not made the vacuum himself he would have made little or no money as if he had marketed it to hoover they may have at best employed him or at worst copied it.
