Do you feel that you can be honest with your boss.?
If you want to be honest about something you disagree with, do you feel you can come right out with it, or do you find that you pay for speaking up and that it was never worth it
Answers:
I find it's a very 'yes and no' subject. It can be very delicate especially as my boss has a great gift for misunderstanding what I mean. I say what I mean yet he still seems to try to read things into what I am saying and so ends up with totally the wrong idea and believes something that isn't at all true. He isn't really the sort of person you can easily disagree with because he doesn't often discuss things, chosing instead to decide and then tell everyone what is going to happen. Other times if you disagree with him on something he just distances himself; isn't very friendly, doesn't talk about how things are going with the work and basically tries to keep out of the way / keep me out of the way so it makes things aukward. I'd like to be able to say I can be open and honest with my boss, I don't lie to my boss, what I say is true it's just that sometimes I have to keep my mouth shut because what I would say is not something I can say.
Eh.it depends.BEFORE a falling out we had, yes, I felt I could be fairly honest.just depends on the situation. If it's work-related, you should be able to speak freely. If it's about why you were late or missed a day or something, I usually lie!
But since we had a falling out a few months ago, I feel like I can't tell him anything without him taking it the wrong way.
Be careful, they are still your boss.
I am honest up to a point, at that point I just keep my mouth shut and let them work it out.
Yes you need to be just yourself.
Yep. Coz he's my dad!!
I think a boss is only a good one when you can be honest with them and they value your opinion
not with mine - he's a narrow minded "jackass"
Yes, I'm really lucky with my boss. She seems to value my opinion and doesn't mind if I don't always agree with her.
I work for my mother
So sometimes Im honest,sometimes not
Tried to be honest with my once boss but she didnt want to hear another opinion and she would always keep talking and talking till you accepted she was right
A big question with so many answers some of which have already been well given.
My personal views are that dont dependent on anything, because you never know what brings tomorrow and how your honesty is used against you. Dont be naive after all he/she is your boss. Keep business a business and as friendily formal as possible. Do chit chat but never tell your boss who you slept with last night or what you had for drink before that just in case you wanna call in sick. However if you are one of those that dont take a wrong step ever then why not be naive and good natured and even your boss might see that too but be cautious.
I know I can be completely open and honest with my boss. Whether or not he listens is a completely different matter!
