How do you cope with an overpowering work colleague?
Answers:
poke them in the eye
tell them to back off in a very load voice
I like to just plain insult them in front of everyone else, and then when they try and react, put your fingers in your ears and go lalalalah..
really annoys em.
i normally find that a piece of lead in the ear does the trick, usually from a colt 45
nod to them and than do what i want to do without listeing to them:)
my boss is a real knob hes a teamleader behind the manager but hes the most arrogent git ud never met thinks he gods gift i find the best thing to do is just stay out of there way if thats possible i know its not always possible or if there is some1 higher report them if there not using their power correctly
There is at least one in every workplace. Just let them go, maybe they will eventually knock themselves out. We have one that takes over everything and hogs all the overtime. And then wants us to feel sorry for her because she has no time off.
Tell them your gay
Depends what you mean by overpowering - bullying? Harrassing? Just generally too enthusiastic?
Firstly, keep a diary of everything - day, date, who was there, what happened.
Secondly, check both your company's policies on harrassment and bullying and your country's legislation.
Thirdly join your trade union, or contact an appropriate union, or visit a union website. They can be pretty good at advising you.
Depending on which country you are in and how serious the overpowering behaviour is, you might be able to successfully sue the company for loads of money, and they may prefer to sack your colleague instead.
You might want to consider a quiet word with them in private (during office hours when other people are around, but in a separate room) just saying that you find his/her behaviour inappropriate and you would prefer them to change it when you are around. Worked for me. But my company may take this more seriously than yours of course.

oh golly we have one too, it can be so draining, i find if you are just super nice to them or act like them for a day they might shut up. good luck with it
