I'm an accountant who did an MBA (Warwick BS). Ideally you want to work for yourself (consultancy rates are high). This is a tough life though, so you also need to have a link to another income/business stream. You may have realised that internet marketing is surging against traditional media. Getting in tow with a couple of young IT brightsparks and looking at companies with poor online ideas may be a start. Don't think HR is that good a route. Change management is interesting, but maybe it becoming a thing of the past.
HR is a good career.
which ever your best at. Dont look at the salary figure because then youll get side tracked. If your really good in any field then you can make bank as long as your good in that field. So find something your interested in and go for it cause you dont want to be stuck in a field thats not an interest to you even though it will pay 10 or 20 thousand more.
Depends on your true interests. If you are not particularly interested in a subject, no amount of will to pursue money is going to get you anywhere. HR is good but you don't necessarily need an MBA to do well in that area. Marketing and finance are complicated and difficult and require a lot of dedication and brains for good analysis.
I work in a proprietary trading shop. We trade equity index futures and options for our own account. I have NEVER come across any one in HR who was worth a damn. They don't realize they are a support function that doesn't generate any revenue for the business.
If you're really 'mathy' and like the subject then think about finance. Both marketing and finance are worthwhile, simply depends on your interests, talents and skills.
hr, marketing and finance are all different kinds of jobs. i would recommend you find a job or internship to figure it out, rather than waste your education only to figure out that you really wanted to do something else.
If you are looking for a career, take the one that you will enjoy the most. It is easier to succeed when you are enjoying what your doing
