I need to buy from USA & they will only accept an US cheque who would do this for me, which bank?
I want to buy a DAK preamp/mixer, but they will only accept a US cheque, as they don't normally ship abroad. How do I go about this as Iv'e never come across this problem before
Answers:
I recently had to get some cheques made out in US currency. I bank with the Halifax so I asked them about it. They were able to make out the cheque but I had to order it specially and there was also a charge for this, £10 per cheque. It had to be posted to my home address and it took about 7-10 days for the cheque to arrive.
It is possible, check with your bank but just bear in mind it may take a while and there might be a charge for it.
Talk to your bank about your predicament. They can normally issue a banker's draft (cashier's cheque) - perhaps they have one that would be honoured in the USA? That or pay by credit card ;-)
Go to your bank and ask them if they could change your currency to US. if they can't do it they will know where to send you. i am sure the bank will be able to help you thought..
many places want you to have a us address. certain sites have a annual fee to set you up with an "address", the goods get sent to them and then they forward it on to you. for example www.myus.com
I think any bank can make american checks
just ask your normal bank about it
Any Bank can issue a foreign cheque but you may have to have an account with them.
You will be charged for the cheque - check with your Bank to find out what their fee is and you may have to wait a few days for the cheque to be issued.
I wouldn't advise sending cash or travellers cheques.
Many banks will not do foreign currency transactions for retail customers like yourself. If you cannot find a bank to do it then i suggest you fly to the United States, change your currency at the airport and then pay dollars for your item.Alternatively you could try paypal or a credit card.
