Why are banks allowed to rip us off with their charges.? No other company would get away with it?

Answers:
Banks are a rip off because there are few of them, they are very strong and we as individuals are very weak and we need them.

But we can improve thing if we leave them for another bank when we have been treated badly and tell them so. Gradually they will get the message. But if we complain to each other and never punish them, they will never improve and we shall deserve what we are getting
shop around and you can find a bank with minimal or no charges
because they think they are a law unto themselves
cos they can.they got the loot.
DONT GO OVERDRAWN WITHOUT AUTHORISATION THEN,THEN THEY WONT CHARGE YOU !!
well they ripped you off because when you signed the contract you stated that you would be held to their terms. If they are charging you fees that weren't in the service terms and conditions then they are ripping you off. Not quite sure if that is the case, don't understand the fine print and what it really means. keep that from happening again. Check out my "Protecting Your Family" blog for a solution to getting ripped of and ending your confusion.

At the least get an account at a Credit Union. They are non profit and so they don't have to charge outrageous fees top meet the bottom line for their investors. Banking is big business, which is why they keep trying to shut down Credit Unions. Free enterprise sucks when you have taken advantage of people and have an inferior business model.
Yes they do - consider the electricity, gas and telephone companies, particularly BT. Who wants to pay £28 line rental when they hardly make any calls?
Don't go overdrawn without permission, don'tget charged!! Easy!
