Do bank admin charges affect your credit rating?
Answers:
i used to work for credit card company...
if the company sends you letters which are out of the ordinary.ie..anything other than statement it will go on your in house credit rating.if you have an overdue payment even if its late by 1 day it goes on the credit file..
one overdue payment wont affect your rating much but 2 on the trot is bad or a missed payment on more than one account is much worse.if a company 'defaults' you and passes your debt to a collection company you can say goodbye to a new mortgage or contract phone.
you can find out what your credit file looks like by going to
www.experian.co.uk
there are a few oyher creditfile companies but this lets you hav a look for free and you can order a full copy it costs £2 and it has all info that companies get to look at.
No, Your bank account is not attached to your credit report.
This will not affect your credit rating overall but an unauthorised overdraft will affect your rating within the bank itself.
no but going overdrawn will, as I was told by my bank two months ago.
I do not believe so. If you closed your bank account and left this amount owing on your account, then it might appear as a debt on your credit, but I do not believe that a fee they charge you for this can adversely affect your credit. Supposedly those kinds of records on active accounts are private.
yes once the charge has been paid of that will remain on your credit rating for 5 years.
If it has to do with money other than cash you can bet some one is keeping score.
And when you pay for things in cash there could be a paper trail.
Just what info is kept & by whom is a good question.
With credit it is akways best to be on time or you could end up paying extra.
If you are late with one credit card company, other companies can find out about it & can & will raise your interest rates.
Overdraft fees do not affect your credit rating. However, if you don't pay them back and your account is charged off and sent to collections, then you'll have a ding on your credit report.
