Buildings use are usually grandfathered in when new regulations come into play however such grandfathered clauses are then taken away when the property changes use or a new owner wishes to make alterations. check with your local council but i suggest it would be a good idea and i believe it's illegal to rent a property in dangerous condition. if something happened a tenant could raise a legal action against you. if you're living in the property then i would suggest you make it safe as soon as you can afford it.
