How can I find out who owns a property for free?

Answers:
In my area (Northern Kentucky) the counties have "pva" property value assessment websites. I'd check your local goverment website and see if your county offers one. Just try doing a search for "My county, State, PVA".

If your area has one you will be able to see current owner and lots of other info about the property. Otherwise call your county clerk and ask who to connect for the information.

Good Luck!
Physically go to the Clerk of Courts ( or similar office, such as County Recorder) in your County or, in LA, your parish.
Find the name of the owner thru the tax collector or assessor's office or web site using the address.
look on the local tax records of the jurisdiction
Become a postman.
Go to your city/county offices they have records of all property owner etc. It might not be free, but it is low cost
your county government has tax records. i would call them up and see the location to go and check on it.
You can find out on line. Go to the city, then to the accessors office, put in the address and you can get all kinds of info on that property. Sometimes it gives the owners name and sometimes the city doesn't list the name.
The land registry, all ownership of land should be registered their, it is a legal obligation since the Land Registration Act 1925.
Go to the property tax data site for your state on your computer. It will have a listing of each city and county. Click on and the site should tell you what to do.
Everything is public record so you can also call the tax assesors office in your city and tell them the address; but it is easier for them to look it up if they know who the owner is. So they will usually ask you for the owners name. This is why I go to the property tax data site.
While I'd say go to the courthouse, like in Iowa, it doesn't work like that in California. I can't get any information unless I have the owner's permission. Try, but good luck.
go online to your county assesors web page. enter the address of the property, a schedule number should reference at that time, click on it and all the information about the property should appear. ie: square footage, year built, taxes, and yes.the present owner.
Go to the land registry !
I can only suggest the land registry but it might not be for free
lol thats a good question! i think you need to think about it more though before you ask other people
