When people ring you up trying to sell you somthing do you ever string them along till they put the phone down

One time I had a layover in Dallas and I told a Hari Krishna that I was in a cult just like his. I talked to him for about an hour. Told him when I first joined I gave up all my worldly possessions and shaved my head just like they did. I then told him how I lived and worked in a big commune with other people just like he did and how we all dress the same. He asked if I meditated and did yoga, and I told him how we all got up before sunrise and exercised and chanted together. The whole time I talked to him with a straight face and told him the truth. Everything his group did, we did too. I then told him about the great pay I got and free medical and dental plan and he wanted to know what group I was in. He was begging to join up with my group, and wanted to know the name of it. He freaked out when I told him it was the US ARMY. Hes probably a Sergeant Major now.
i do sometimes normally i just put the phone down, then they phone back and that is when i start.
I ask them if I can have their phone number and if they would tell me a really inopportune time to call them back.
In short, no.
You see I used to work for MCI. I was one of those people doing the calling. It's a sucky job, so I figure why make it suckier than it already is.
But when they call me at home, I just say, "oh sorry they're not home" and boom. it's over.
if they try to sell phone service i tell them i don't have a phone. anything else and i tell them i am the babysitter or hang up.
Actually, I like to start talking to them about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That usually wraps it up. Good, clean fun. Unfortunately, that strategy can backfire. That happened to me once, and by the end I had to pretend to start speaking in tongues.
I just say no, or tell them that they have the wrong phone number.
I let them talk and tell me everything that they want to sell and then tell them that i will call them next time if i want anything from them because i know how to look up their number!
I just hand the phone to my husband.Or if he isn't available, my 5 yr old grandson. Both love to talk and could do so for hours, non-stop. Usually the person on the other end will say I have to go first.(If alone, I just begin to giggle at every thing they say).
