How can i prepare for a top rate interview?

Answers:
Do research on the company you are applying for.
Dress appropriately and professionally.
Don't use slang words, trendy words, or acronyms, when speaking to any one at the company, even the Secretary.
Don't answer any interview questions spontaneously, take your time and think about what you are saying.
Don't talk about your relationships, children, or personal beliefs.
Don't fidget, chew gum, or look around the room nervously. Speak to the interviewer and have good eye contact.
Always remember: never do or say any thing that you are ashamed of. People talk, there may be someone there that worked with you once, or had some other connection to you.
Before an Interview I usually look up the company history, Their last year end results, any other business they own or are owned by. Learn off all these facts so that when they ask what do I know about the company I can usually blind them with facts.
Other than that prepare for the usual questions & be yourself.
Make sure you're fully up to speed on all the company details. It helpful to know their main customer / clients and their competitors. Company websites hold a lot of information so have a good look on that before hand. Make sure that during the interview, you mentioned that you have researched the company, even if you don't have the opportunity to discuss what you know in detail, Say something like "On your website I noticed.." Its always impresses because it shows you're interested.

The main thing an employer wants to know for an interview is, what you can bring to the company, what skills and experiences you have that will benefit the role, why you want to work for them a obviously to find out a bit more about you as a person. So make sure you have answers prepared for these main questions that will come up.

Remember, the interview is a chance for you to find out more about the job so make sure you have some questions prepared to ask. Steer clear of questions about the benefits / holiday entitlement or canteen facilities. Ask things like "What would a typical day in the position entail?" "Is it a new position or will you be replacing an existing employee?" "Are there any opportunities for further training?" etc.

The most important thing to remember is to be professional. By all means relax and be yourself but keeps things professional at all times. No digressing on the reasons why you want to leave your current position or how much you dislike Chinese food! Don't try too hard to impress though because believe it or not, this can put some employers off! Keep your answers short and concise and give examples where you can.

Good luck!
I typed job interview questions into the google bar and check a couple of them out. To practice with a friend in front of a video camera was my first idea, and I found a site that helps with that. There were a lot of good answers to the questions you will probably face there. Also, at About.com there good ideas, too, and then or course, there is monster.com which has good answers. All had tips on what to wear, what not to wear, how to write your post-interview thank you letter, etc. There was one site that was just for banks. So as not to get too confused, if you just check these 2 or 3 sites out and get comfortable with the answers that best fit you, the interview will be a success. It doesn't hurt to let them know how much this means to you and how important it is to you that the interview goes well. No one wants to hire a robot!
