Why there are no cars equiped with an alcohol tester preventing engine from start-up if positive result?
Answers:
The device is called an ignition interlock. Installation of such a device can be ordered as a condition of a DWI offender keeping their driving privileges. They can be programed to require the driver to blow into a tube to start the vehicle, and also to blow in the tube at random intervals, while driving, to prevent someone else from blowing in the tube to start the car.
They cost several hundred dollars to install in a vehicle. Everyone I have ever met with one on their vehicle says that they are a royal pain in the buttocks! If they were to be required in all cars, there would be protests from most people who were unhappy with having to use it, having no history of drinking and driving.

there are. Some law enforcement agencies install them on the cars of people who have had DUIs
Pretty pointless really. I know very little about vehicles, and even so I could circumvent any such system, even if its embedded into the newer computer systems found in vehicles. It'd be impossible to prevent tampering, because that's a system that the governement cant really keep control of.
Yes repeat offenders have em but they just have there Friends blow in them and useless, good question tho they need a finger print something you know like hold the fingers in something to make sure its the driver
Because in theory you shouldn't even get in the drivers seat if you have consumed alcohol.
If You'd been charged with an Impaired Driving Charge within the past few years.and Drive for a Living. You'd already be using this system!
Your vehicle won't start until You blow into the device.and then, Only if you're Under-the-Limit!
that is a good idea, so be the first one to discover that tester and find yourself a in the worlds records and live forever in the history after all even a car itself was just invaded by some person's brain which was thinking in the same lines as yours. So please work on that and find how you can do it.
i've never heard of car like this, but it's a good idea though
have u seen the tester they sell in garages now..morning after breth tester..alhough i worrie that u would have had to have driven to the garage to get them anyway!
they do if you have a dui
There are for people convicted of DUI or DWI. I guess your question is why don't they sell them with that option. I would imagine that car salesman are not thinking the person buying the car has an alcohol problem.
YOU MEAN A PROTOTYPE CAR!!! Hey, you said positive result, the positive result actually mean that he has filled himself with lot alcohol. For example: They say HIV positive for presence of HIV virus in the blood stream and negative for absence.
No there are no such cars yet.
