Why are you not allowed to use a phone in a petrol station?
Answers:
There was an urban legend that floated around that said cellphones had caused fires and explosions at gas (petrol) stations. There are no stories of this actually happening. Furthermore, there have been a number of test conducted to try to cause a fire or explosion from a cellphone and no test has been able to cause one. I have to assume you are referring to cell phone use at the pumps. There is a danger of static electricity that if sparks could result in an explosion!
i think it can cause an explosion
they say there's a possibility that something sparks or something and you set then place alight?
It's a cell phone they are concerned about. They are concerned about the possibility of a static discharge igniting the gasoline?
Supposedly it can cause the gas to ignite (?) if you're pumping and talking at the same time.
there was a mythbursters on this and it is just a myth. it will not cause an explosion.
Because gullible lawmakers believe the urban legends about sparks from cell phones igniting gasoline vapors.
Because they claim that it can cause some sort of reaction with the gas pumps to cause a fire.
BOOM!
that's a myth. fires are started from static electricity caused from getting back in your car, then getting out again without discharging yourself by touching something metal.
cell phones cannot ignite gas fumes.
I think because the radio waves can cause computer malfunctions witch can lead to possible some serious problems.
Safety reasons..
supposedly because of static electricity - but it was proven to be wrong
because you could blow your self and everyone else up!
may just be an urban legend, but you could possibly create a spark and go boom! And then St Peter is going to laugh his a55 off when you get to the pearly gates with you cell phone in one hand and a pump handle in the other.
dont know. but they done an experiment on top gear once. and they couldnt blow anything up with a mobile! Theres no spark and u need either heat or a spark to set petrol alite.
Explosions, static electricity, when you get out of your vehicle you should always touch the hood or door to disengage the static.
Accidental combustion.
they don't want you to use your cell phone, because nobody uses the pay-phones anymore. So they just made up that the petrol station is going to explode or something, so that the phonecompany can make some money.
The static electricity could cause an explosion
Because the cashiers get very jealous and think that you are in love with another!
Because it will mess up the systems, like in a hospitial.
Silly nanny state rules. Next wooly jumpers will be banned in case of static sparks.
