How hot are the spanish police on drink driving?
i dont do it myeslf at all. i was over there recently and saw an english tourist have 8ish pints at the table next to us and drive off. if he was caught and brethalysed would he get locked up or would it be a big fine- (pay them off)?

The Spanish Police have a zero tolerance policy regarding drink driving, especially if it's a British tourist. They're even more sadistic towards the Brit's abroad, and quite rightly so I'd say.
I heard of a typical D-D case from a English bar owner in Southern Spain. He told me that's it's not uncommon for the Spanish Police to throw you in the back of a van, drive up into the remote hills, drag you out and give you a bloody good kickin', leave you there bleeding and broke.
So the morale of the story is, don't drink and drive anywhere, especially abroad.

I don't know but having seen the after effects of dunk drivers with many innocent parties hurt or killed no punishment can be too harsh, If they do kill then i recon we should bring back hanging and string them all up.

Also people are often more bothered about being out of pocket on holiday than someone trying to give them points (if it were possible) - Remember the max blood alcohol limit in Spain is alot lower than our own in britain and if you don't speak spanish you are at their mercy.
