Unlocking and locking the doors on Cougar V6.?
I have just developed a problem unlocking and locking the doors and I need some assistance to find the fault.
When I press the key fob button once it unlocks the drivers door, if I push it a second time nothing happens. (The passenger door should unlock)
If I proceed to enter the vehicle und unlock the door manually with the interior handle I am unable to lock the car. If I press the keyfob you can hear the doors lock then straight away you hear them unlock again. You can get round this by locking the passengers door using the interior handle then locking the doors using the key fob.
If I lock and unlock the passengers door manually using the interior handle it also locks and unlocks the drivers door exactly as it should.
When I use the key to lock and unlock the passenger door the driver door locks and unlocks too exactly as it should but when I try using the key on the drivers door, only the driver door locks and unlocks not the passenger door.
Any help?

Well obviously the passenger door actuator has failed. So it wont open when you press the button, and wont lock when you open it manually. (the doors unlock again to tell you one is still open)
It is either the solenoid itself or as someone else has said, the earth has gone. If your door drains get blocked water can sit in there and eventually rust will develop, the earth connection can be affected by this.
Have you droped it alot? Sounds like you need new batteries in the fob. or a new fuse in the car. call the dealership.
its a ford. Forked-or repaired daily..
its probably just a bad earth.now try to find it.
it sounds like the problem lies with the passenger door elecrics as you can open and close it manualy but it is not opening electrnicly take it to the dealer or to a auto electrics company for a diagnostic .
