Roundabouts?

Where I live theres a roundabout where very few people understand the rules of giving way to your right so I have nearly hit cars on more then one occassion so I look both ways now all the time and it is really p*ssing me off - bad drivers. Is it wrong to get a big bit of cardboard and write on it
THIS IS A ROUNDABOUT LOOK RIGHT!!! ans stick it on a nearby lamp post. I may be saving a future life.
I really want to so much!

Answers:
I would write "At roundabouts give way to the right!" and stick in the window behind the drivers seat.

My pet hate is not indicating when turning or indicating and then NOT turning.AARRGGHH!

I use a mobility scooter and the amount of times I have been nearly run over by a driver doing the above is beyond counting.

I tend to sit at the kerb and wait until there is no traffic, which can take some time, but I'd rather cross safely than die trying!
Paste one right on the back of your car! I've seen much worst with people attempting to make a point about something!
Not only wrong, but unsafe and possibly illegal.

Your sign may distract someone just long enough to cause an accident, or it could even impede their vision.

If that's not enough for you, there's a little known law in most places that would prohibit you from doing what you'd like to do.

I understand your frustrations, but just pay attention at the roundabout, and drive defensively. Stay safe.
go do it.
its not abnormal behaviour and people wont think your demented.
its like people cant understand mini roundabouts. ive seen all sides sitting there waiting for someone to go. JUST GO!!
Rule of thumb is as follows: If a vehicle is already in the round-about you will give way to vehicle, as well as give way to vehicles entering on your right.
OMG i completely agree with you, we have one just like that near us, it is quite small and every sits there waiting for each other to go and then all of a sudden just pull off, I thinks its a great idea putting a sign up, wrap it in cling film in case of rain and good luck!
There's a roundabout near me that you can go both ways round. It's really confusing so maybe that confuses everyone else..or maybe there just annoying
My advice to you is write or e-mail your local council & explain how you feel about this being a high risk accident hot spot.they may take your points on board & agree to place an official "give way to the right" sign..good luck..
Thought this only happened to me! Don't think that you can put your cardboard sign up might get into trouble!! lol
People in a roundabout have right of way. try yielding to them.
Use your commun sence in driving dont stuck to the rules too much because not every body do
You don't say where you are. Obviously not in the UK where priority does go to the right (traffic in the roundabout) but everyone instinctively knows how to negotiate them.

If you are in the US, you have it wrong, however. Traffic in the roundabout -- traffic on the LEFT -- has the right of way. Traffic entering the roundabout (that's YOU!) must yield!

If you're in Europe, the "Give Way Triangle" as well as the double broken lines should be painted on the roadway surface in the lane that is required to yield.
I don't think you should put your own sign up, it could be a distraction and cause, rather than prevent, an accident.

Write to your local council and let them know that this particular roundabout is dangerous, they might be able to put traffic lights on it or something else to help.
put it to the department of transport they must have a web site somewhere as this is a good idea.
Also i live in Milton Keynes and we have 380 main roundabouts and 460 mini roundabouts so send all those idiots here to learn how a roundabouts work. All the best..
Basic rule of thumb at roundabouts, give way to the right - and if some dick head pulls out on you onto the roundabout always aim for the drivers door, if you can maim them, so much the better.
I know what you mean. I hate going near milton keynes.there's a roundabout every 50 yards, it seems.
still, its not as bad as this place:

Good idea, but it still won't work, if they don't take any notice of official signs, they certainly won't bother about yours!
If you just stick it there the local council may just simply remove it just like ads for clubs or sofa sales etc.
Instead try the local councillor to take the road safety issue up and talk to the local Police. They have road safety issues they raise regularly with Councils.
There should also be a local road safety organisation.
Since we don't know where you live it is not possible to be more specific.
Good luck
hey
you need to visit swindon and have a day out on the magic roundabout theres loads of them.

In answer to your question it would be wrong to do it, yes.

I think roundabouts are really badly placed and people seem to have no idea how to drive on them (although it is second to driving on a 4 lane motorway, I think you need to be taught how to do that on your driving test).

I'm not sure writing to the council will help much as they decide where to put them in the first place, but it can't hurt.
I hate roundabouts! The officials put them out saying it is to improve safety, however, you are right to many people don't understand them and it makes it more dangerous.
You should give way to vehicles already on the roundabout, not nescessarily those approaching from the right.
Or else you will lose on the roundabouts what you gained on the swings
People will probably get distracted byt he cardboard and crash
do it i hate roundabouts they are a pain in the *** because no one knows what to do. so many of us did not grow up with them but now we live near them so we don't know what to do. I would much rather have stop signs
you can not do that
as a driver i'd do it.

as a previous council warden i'd give it 2 days before it got taken down and investigated.

i got 6 prosocutions in 18 months, so it can be done, even if i don't necesarily agree sometimes.
