Does anyone have a land rover freelander?

i have just bought a land rover freelander r reg 69,000 miles on it i bought it for £2500its a 5 door station wagon what do u think?

Answers:
Hi i looked into buying a Freelander but was put off by the reports of cylinder head gasket failure on the 1.8 petrol if yours is petrol get it checked out,if its the diesel it will be the early Land rover diesel which is a bit rough+unreliable, the newer td4 diesel had a BMW engine which is much better, don't want to sound negative, but hope you've got a good one.
is it petrol or diesel
if petrol make sure head gasket & the plastic dowels have been changed to metal otherwise it goes bing bang boom
the other answers are correct for the petrol engine they usually have cylinder head gasket problems around 60k.
its one of those vehicles which always fairs very bad in the jd power type surveys for reliability, another problem [design fault]was heating and ventilation you could never stop the inside from misting up unless you have air/con on.
I work at a motor factors and we sell loads of headgasket sets and head bolts for the rover K series engine.
It will need changing at some point.
