Cleaning excess gel substance from paintwork?

Hi All,

I used a gel substance to clean the rubber. However I have found it dificult to take off the excess with normal water and shampoo. It just smudges rather than coming off. I am not sure if spirit will help.

i highly recommend you go to your nearest car care store and ask for tar and glue remover and a small pack of rag, put the tar and glue remover onto the rag and apply, then shampoo off afterwards. but make sure when you buy it they dont fobb you off with the cheap stuff in the spray bottle, its **** :D
I would try some spirits on a small area and see.
