Car Shakes When I Brake?

I have a 1998 Ford Fiesta. When i'm travelling and then I brake, the steering wheel shakes alot. Its only started happening recently. It had it's MOT n August and needed some new springs for the suspenson which was all fixed, and i had 2 new tyres.
I'm going to take it to the garage today but would like some idea of what may be wrong before I go, any ideas??

hi Emma, well what's going on is that your brake rotors are warped. What happens is they get a wavy appearance, so when you hit the brakes, it is basically like the pads are going over speed bumps, what you need to do is go have the rotors turned.
try your tyre balancing
you need New ROTORS
is it standard?
get it looked at..
that one's easy its because its a 1998 fiesta..
The front discs need to be machined, that is all. It is generally a good idea if you fit new brake pads when you machine the discs though.

On such a small car you are unlikely to have to replace the actual disc rotors.
this is typical of female drivers, it is the ABS cutting in, do not brake so violently.
That happened to me before..once b/c I needed a realignment and another b/c my car was so old the engine was going out.but you're going to a mechanic so you'll find out soon.w/e it may be good luck
Bad strut/shock. bad break(s). broken/cracked rotor.. failing tierod
that happened to my dads jeep

he had the brake pads replaced because they were warn and it is fine now
The alignment may be off, esp. if you just got new tires. The tires may not be balances properly.Bring it back. They will fix it and should not charge you since you had the tires and springs just done. ITs not safe to drive it like that and it will ruin the tires----if that is the problem. Only a mechanic can tell you.good luck.
The brake discs are warped.
your brake discs could be warped replace and all should be OK.
maybe you need new brake shoes.abs does punch back up through peddle but only if you brake really hard.Just take it easy till you get it looked at. drive carefully.your brakes could have been ok in aug,but warn down now its nearly 3 months on.
1. Tyres need to be balanced
2. Check brake pads
3. check for brake disk wear / scored
4. service wheel bearings
Sounds like warped Discs (Rotors in US), but out of round tyres can cause this but would normally show up at speed as well.
Ring for quotes before getting new Discs make sure you give details, age, cc, model as some have vented discs and some abs and vented discs and it all affects the price.
Do Not Rely on Crap Fit ( you cant get Fikker than a Crap Fit Fitter) and their price promise. I will often just face up the old pads with a large file if less than half worn and re use them with new discs. The problem often appers after new pads are fitted due nto rust breaking away uneveny from the edges of the disc
It is something about transmission. You woulod have 1. Loosed driveshaft ( Internal one) 2. rack and it support were loosed. Beleive me . Only these two problems made your wheel shaked.
