What would you buy a Porsche Boxter or a Honda S2000 (Both 5 years old)?

Answers:
personally I would take the S2000, but the Boxter is more valuable, showoffable, and probably faster
I'd take teh S2k, which is perhaps the better car if you're not too bothered about having a flashy badge.

Thought the S2K is said to be rather tail happy, it's probably fun if you know what you're doing.
porsche boxster, hell sweet car but i like the porsche 911 betta!
Get the Boxster, the rear suspenion on the S2000 isn't that good, it wasn't improved until the '06 Model
I'd go for the Boxster.
I don't think I'd get on with the S2000's engine - it has very little torque, and needs to rev lots to produce any meaningful power, which is fine on the track (where the rest of the car isn't much cop) but would annoy the hell out of me on the road.
Unless you area professional racing car mechanic ,do not buy either
and waste your hard earned money.
I was debating that question the other day when I found an S2000 for 18k and a Boxster for 20k. I'm thinking Boxster.
There are too many S2000's and the owners all try to pimp them out. With the Boxster, just throw some new rims on it and you'll be set.
Both. It depends on whether you're a Porsche fan or a Honda fan. Personally, I can't decide.
Is your name really Asif and are you from Ilford UK?
I'd go for the Porsche ..
Probably depreciate less than the Honda.
it depends what you like best, BUT the porsche will probably be worth a higher percentage of your initial purchas price when you sell it
The Honda is a lovely car to drive, when I drove the early model I immediately wished I could keep it !
The Boxster`s (stupid name) lower models feel surprisingly normal.

Lucky you to have such a choice.
S2000 has a reliable but rediculous engine that revs to 9000RPM, which is stupid!! Its also not so fast as the Boxster. But a Boxster tells the world 2 things, Merchant banker that can't afford a 911, which means you can never look cool in a Boxster, which is the main reason for buying one of these cars.
I, personally, would go with the S2000.

1) Honda's are more reliable
2) The Boxter is depreciating faster right now. Just think, 5 years ago, the S2000 sold for around $32k while the Boxter sold for around $50k.
3) The Boxter.you're just paying for the Porsche name. It's a poor man's Porsche (granted people who buy it are not poor)
4) The Boxter is very slow for a Porsche car. A stock EVO and STI smokes that thing.
5) If you ever wanted to mod one of those cars for more speed, there are more aftermarket parts for the S2000 and the parts are cheaper.
6) Maintenance on the S2000 is cheaper
7) Downside to the S2000 is you're joining the Ricer crowd but if it means getting more bang for your buck. Saddle on up and sit right next to me in the Ricer crowd. Of course, getting a Boxter sort of says you're either in mid-life crisis or compensating for some short coming.
personally, from a female perception, I wouldn't be seen dead in either. but if you really insist on buying one of them I guess the Boxter will hold its value more.
The Porsche Boxster. I owned a Honda accord Type-R and the engine, although brilliant, was a pain in the **** to live with day to day. As the S2000s engine is even more extreme I can only imagine it would be an even bigger pain. It will have very little torque compared to the Porsche and your going to have to ring it's neck to get the performance out of it. So regardless of the figures the Boxster will feel faster and will be much more comfortable overtaking. In the Honda you'll be sitting at 6000 rpm waiting for a gap to appear since anything below the vtec point will just feel flat.
The porsche is also quicker in standard trim round a circuit, handles better and will hold it's value longer.
