I have found a Ford Escort LX, 1.6, ex con, full s/h, for £750, no tax, owner taking 4 mot, 19000 miles!?

Please help with this car! 19000 miles on the clock can it be real, with full s/h, have put £30 deposit on it and owner taking for mot 2mora, am worried that it is too good to be true, can someone with some knowledge tell me, need answers quick, thanxs..

Could be genuine, if you were going to clock the odometer surely you'd put it to a more belieable milage than that, you can often tell from wear and tear to the interior, pedals, steering wheel, seat, if it's done a 100k+ mileage.
What year is it? Check www.Autotrader.co.uk before you take that car.
PS it may be very good but be careful. Does that person has second car?
P reg is 1997 I think. 19K for all that time. But full s/h is good. look closely for mileage. Friend of main bought a car and after found out that mileage after 50.000 went down to 27K in s/h In your case wait for MOT. Good Luck
It might be true. What is the year of the car? An average driver does 10000 miles per annum. Do a HPI check.
Could be true. My brother picked up a 10 year old car with similar mileage (as a second car). Served him really well for 5 years. If the service record is a garage one you can always ring the garage and ask them if they did service the car and if the mileage is genuine.

If you can get a new MOT on it £750 for a years motoring is pretty cheap. If you buy a new car (say for £7k) you loose over £1000 the moment you sit in it (the cost of the VAT).
Sounds good look at service record to see if milage matches if it does you have a bargin.
the escort does not show over 100,000 miles so it could be 119,000. look at the clutch, brake peadal for ware, at 19000 miles it should look almost mint also tyre tread, you can get 2/3 years out of a set of tyres and the average car does 12000 miles per year. how many owners? are you buying it from a old person?
also at £750 it had better be R or S reg.
It's an idea to check the mileage, but if the car's been owned by an elderly driver, the mileage won't be a huge surprise. Just make sure it's actually been serviced and maintaned correctly.
It will be 119000 miles no doubt theres 5 digits for the odometer so t resets at 99999 if its a mk 5 of below that will be the case has he got all old mot's to bak up the millage if not tell him to get lost. as for it being an r reg or s reg thats irrelivant what good is a used and abused s or r reg compared to a well maintained earlier model?

if the millage was genuine it would be worth a lot more than £750
I would buy it! As long as the mielage can be proven by the service history and the MOTs go for it.

Its not the best car in the world but wtf
hpi check it - hpi.co.uk
does sound good.i bought mine in Jan this year,38000 on the clock at £1450.good luck
the ford escort (and most other fords) of this year had mechanical speedo and milometer which only went to 99'999 so would go back to zero at 100 thousand miles. I have had 2 vans with this style of speedo and both had gone through zero and back to 50'000 miles with very few probs (1800 diesel)
a bit dodgey with no ticket
probly to good to be true keep dreaming sucker!!
