Why don't bus drivers wear a seat belt?

Answers:
Is it because they wear belt and braces?
They do where I'm from
because they if they were in a wreak they would rather die
Because they aren't going to have an accident a bit like taxi drivers!
Don't make them that big.
because they don't have accident, they cause them ;o)
What bus are you riding on? Usually the drivers are the ONLY ones with a seatbelt.
bc when the bus gets hit they can escape danger from the top of the escape thing also to escape terrorist!
Because they have a little booth thing to sit at.<_<
And the steering wheel meas they won't fall into the windscreen xD
dont they?
seems odd
Out and out arrogance, like truck, delivery, milk float, whatever drivers they assume they are above the law and the old bill seems to turn a blind eye.
They don't give US seatbelts to wear either - & they drive like lunatics!
1st always wear your seat belt.2ND it will save you from death or bodily injury, believe me i have seen the results 1st hand when a transit bus hits a tree head on.bus drives make a choice not to use them based on "it wont happen to me" belief.being in a accident or neglect of the bus driver to check his equipment before leaving the bus garage or taking over driving the bus from another driver which is often during a bus drivers day.but ultimately they should wear them and its the law .
I ride the city bus a lot and have noticed the same exact thing. I have never seen any of the drivers wearing a seatbelt. I guess they just think since they are in a huge vehicle that it makes them invincible, but then again no one on the bus is wearing a seatbelt either.
AS IT IS NOT PRACTICAL
because most buses and trucks are not fitted with seatbelts
If a seat belt is fitted in any vehicle , by law the driver must wear it
the ones at my school do
There's no traffic regulation or compulsory rule to say that bus
drivers must wear seat belts all the time while driving.
Thus, no bus driver is wearing one.
As an ex bus driver I found that most traffic laws regarding buses are old and from a time when seatbelts didn't exist. Since then drivers of buses have always been exempt and have the choice to wear a seatbelt where fitted - it also allows drivers to get out of the cab easily to help passengers. Another question would be, with all the demands the public make for operators to fit seatbelts to buses why do the public never wear them when they are fitted?
School bus drivers and most over the road bus driver are required to wear a seat belt and they do, even though buses are built safer than cars, especially school buses.
Because they drive like maniacs and if they see an accident coming, they want to be able to jump off the bus asap, a seat belt would slow down their escape
they are required by law to do so, if they are not wearing one don't get on the bus! In my world that means that they are NOT saftey minded!!
