Traffis Lights! Council are fu**ed up?
"An assessment has been undertaken for the Laighstonehall Road / Chantinghall Road junction and this confirms that there has been one reported injury accident within the 3 year period up to 1 October 2006. The Council has finite resources available to investigate accident locations and our focus has to be at locations where there have been three or more reported injury accidents"
Basically, they wont do anything before 3 people are injured at the same junction.
They wont do anything until people get hurt and then they might.
what do you people think?
Answers:
sounds reasonable to me. I bet nobody on the other side of town wants them and they pay just as much council tax as you. Traffic lights are generally a nuisance, creating more hassle than they solve
sounds reasonable.
It's a method of rationlising funds - what do you expect.
I'm sure if they had money they would do something about it, but they have to prioritise. I'm not saying that their system is correct - no system can be 100% perfect, but it's still a system.
You should also look at it from another point of view; if there has only been one accident - maybe it's not a serious issue as you think.
Like they said, they have limited resources.
And they will be using them to put lights where they are really needed, real accident black spots.
Its crazy but thats the way it go's, wait until some poor soul gets killed, like shutting the stable door when the horse has already bolted !
That is way things are done just about everywhere. A certain number of deer must be killed before a deer Xing sign is installed, for example. Every safety reg is written on a certain number of deaths or injuries.
When a person is part of govt, they leave their common sense at the door. At the same time, they assume you have the reasoning power of a three year old.
Sorry, that sounds reasonable. They use the same figures for errecting Gasto's don't they.!
Good. I wouldn't want my council spending money on traffic lights just because someone has emailed them to ask for some.
they are right. just because someone wants lights put up to help them get out of a junction doesnt mean the council ahve to bend to do it.
imagine if everyone who e mailed them got a set of lights put up, it would take ages to get anywhere!
