What can occur to a high pressure fuel system, if low sulphur diesel isn't used?

Does this damage the injector nozzles?
Is it lack of lubrication within the fuel?
Or something completely different?

Answers:
the diesel currently used in pumps across the us is low sulfur diesel. they are slowly switching to ultra low sulfur diesel. the 07 model engine can only run the ultra low sulfur because of catalyst in the exhaust system. too much sulfur in the fuel will break down the new catalyst clogging your exhaust and voiding your warranty. sulfur is used as a lubricant in diesel and there is concern that the lack of sulfur will dry out the seals in the fuel systems of older truck meaning costly repairs to stop fuel leaks. so no matter what fuel you use in the truck the engine will run good but it could destroy your exhaust preventing you from passing inspection or worse destroying your engine. on a further note there are a few types of diesel no1 witch is primarily used in the southern states due to the temp it tends to gel in cold weather but is the best in warm weather. no2 is used in the northern states because it is less likely to gel in cold weather. the third type is non taxable it has a red dye added to it and is for off road use only. the dye has been known to dye inner parts of your fuel system as well. its been dyed to make it obvious who is running it.
I'm not 100% sure but I think it has to do with pollution. One kind is taxable and the other isn't because it's used for commercial use in off road equipment.
It shouldn't hurt anything as long as it is a type of Diesel. When I worked at the Airport we used to run jet fuel in the diesel equipment. never hurt any of it and it ran fine. (I was the PM tech for our ground equipment.)
When low sulphur diesel -so called 'city diesel' - arrived, there was concern that the fuel pump would sieze because of a lack of lubrication.
I think it will be ok, but where can you buy it?
Low sulfur is less lubicating, Use a good fuel treatment like Cen-Pe-Co fuel additive. It's worth it anyways
