Which would be cheaper to insure a 1.8 diesil or a 1.2 petrol?

1.2 fiat punto or a 1.8 ford fiesta, I had been told that they were in the same bracket for insurance, is this true? I am 20 and have been driving 7 months

Dude get the punto - better looking - have you gone for the sporting 1.2? they have better equipment.

Most definitely the Punto. Don't listen to anybody else, they don't know as much as me.
If you need further confirmation get a quote on both cars. You will see that I am right.
You don't give the age of the cars and what they are worth ..that would make a big difference in the quotes.I would think the diesel might be cheaper..
my sister has had both cars, 4 the fiesta 1.1 it woz £1500 as fiestas r in a high insurance group, the punto 1.2 woz about £500 as it's a lower group

The Punto is a much better car than a Fiesta..cost of insurance really depends on your age and driving experience / record but generally the Punto would be the cheapest
Generally speaking the larger the engine the greater the insurance so 1.2 petrol is better, for insurance purposes petrol v diesel makes very little difference. The fact your 20 and driving 7 months would be the far greater factor as would the age of the car.
i would say the punto but its hard to say these days because any extras can make adifferance and depends on prices for repair the only way to be sure is get a qoute on both
those are 4 cylinders engines and the insurance is the same but i would go with the one that gets the best milage.diesel engines are for torque or pulling power and you can easily blow the engine by red lining too many times. a gas engine is built for speed but these 4 cylinder engines arent built to race just good milage.

the 1.2 punto is in fact the cheaper car to insure the ford is a higher insurance bracket. I know this as I work in car insurance.
