My peugot 406 starts ok when cold, as soon as it reaches normal running temp its stops |||| any ideas pls.?

Buy a new car.
Check to see if you're getting fire to the spark plugs when it dies. If no fire is present, you may have a bad ignition module. If you have fire, it's a fuel system problem. Check the fuel pressure, fuel filter and flexible fuel lines to be sure no kinks are there. Hope this helps.

Temprature sensor, air flow sensor, Cap, rotor,plug wires. Have it checked.
you may want to check and see if that the choke is off. it sounds to me like it is stuck open.
prob something to do with the automatic choke mech all they are normally computer controlled on those through the ecu although you might just have a temp sender wire off from somewere?
i agree with the choke explanation for when it cuts off check the choke flap to see if it is closed or open

Sounds like automatic choke sticking on.
Take Air filter off and look to see if choke is open or closed when hot. Flap inside should be open so you can see down f it's closed then Auto choke faulty
As well as what other people have suggested, have you tried checking the breather pipe from the petrol tank for blockages? It could be that the car starts on petrol that has seeped through when it has been standing, then can't pull any anymore through.
As you say its a deisel, then your fault is with the fuel pump.
There is a solenoid that is activated during cold start, and switches over when warmed up.
Yours obviously doesnt work properly.
Sorry, but this is an expensive fault to repair,
the pump needs to be removed and checked over by a specialist.
Lucas are very good, check the yellow pages for one near you.
Might be worth sourcing a replacement pump, may be cheaper and they may take a part ex. on the faulty unit.
You will also need a specialist to remove the pump and re-time the replacement unit.
If it is done incorrectly and is just 1 degree out, the car wont start.
