Driving - which is more distracting - phone or Sat Nav?
Why?
What is more distracting - phone or Sat Nav?
Answers:
sat nav, the law states you can't watch a screen while driving, so why are they allowed, and why haven't more people been fined for having these stupid things in front of them, lets be honest if you need a sat nav to find out where you are going, you are either a bad driver because you don't follow the road signs, or you are just an idiot full stop!
I agree sat nav is really distracting especially trying to program an alternative route at high speed at least with a phone you can still watch where you are going
So my answer is sat nav is the most dangerous
phone as you need to concentrate on the call for longer than you do with a sat nav.
phones are hands free, sat navs aren't..so yes, sat navs are more distracting
I think that sat nav is more distracting because people often look away from the road for relatively long periods of time while trying to program it and whatnot.
phones because most people don't use hands free they just drive there motors with out a car for other drivers at least with a sat nav you program it to where you want to go and that's it where as a phone you ask for directions and you stay on it most of the time
I believe that a phone is worse. Even if it is a fitted hands free kit you still have to concentrate on trying to access numbers from the memory unless you are one of those rare people that can actually get their phones voice activation system to understand you.
If you programme your Sat Nav at the start of the journey there should be little reason to alter it unless there is heavy traffic. In that case you are likely to be going slow anyway.
Both are ridiculous unnecessary distractions. Whatever happened to pulling off the road and looking at a map and compass?
Turn off the phone before you get in the car (much safer). Never needed the other, a good map and common sense will get you anywhere you want to go.
Sat nav - because you have to look and unless you're an iguana you won't have stereoscopic vision.
phone's are allowed hands free and i think sat nav's will go the same way.your not allowed to read a map as you go along so i think they will change the law when a few people have been killed and a few millions been made. to voice only sat navs and make a few more quid as people have to change over again.
Phones are more distracting,With a sat nav you programme where you are going before you set off and you LISTEN to the instructions from the unit.Yes you also need to look at it but its only like checking your car instruments. With a phone, hand held, you have to hold the phone and concentrate on what the other person u are talking to is saying.
One more point.Get caught on the phone by the plod and it will cost you £30.Get seen checking the sat nav and no worries.
Ive driven a long ways while texting before and I dont even know how I did it. sometimes I didnt even look up. I think humans have a natural driving sense. Just look out for red lights.
phone
The Sat Nav, from a technical point of view, as it distracts your visual attenion to driving.
Definately fone, I'd be lost without my Satnav
Sat Nav cause you prob take your eyes off the road too look at the Sat Nav
