I have a renault laguna 1999, and the air bag light comes on. Is there any likely causes and easy fixes?
Answers:
Yes there is.. they suffer from a connector under neath both front seats, that causes a poor connection so the airbag light comes on. the connector needs to renewed or cleaned but there is a possibility that if you start playing around with the connector the air bags may go off, so you need to go to a Renault Garage.. be about an hour and a half labour.should cost about £100
A likely cause is that the wiring from your airbag to the ECU has either broken or worn. Best bet is to take to a Renault garage to get it fixed. Actually fixing the problem shouldnt cost much but you may have to pay a lot for labour as it would probably be a fiddly job. Also if your not concerned about having an airbag you could always take the airbag lightbulb out --- problem sorted
I'll bet there's a garage just up the road from you but you decided that you would ask the intellegentia (Blame Dan Brown for this) and probably by the time you get an intwelligible answer you will have it fixed anyway. GOOD FOR YOU.
well my Clio did this a few days ago. and i was well messed off, but my son got in the passenger seat and it went off, but when he got out again it came back on. so i looked under his seat and the were some wires which i just tapped and it went out, make sure you don't do this with the car running though, he had kicked the wires with his feet. so. go out and have a go. hope it works i had my car booked in with Renault and im sure a nice bill too. oh my service light was on too though, but hey give it a go !
usally due to clock spring in the connecting block from steering wheel to steering column. main dealer dianostic check to confirm. care if diy you could set off airbag!
