How do I fit a chevrolet v8engine inside an e32 BMW?
Answers:
take out the old engine
providing the space is actually big enough all you need is brackets , all engines are held in place with brackets ?
Crowbar.
well you could get someone that knows what they are doing since you seem to have no idea
Drop the old engine out on the floor, lift the new one in and connect.
a cutting torch ought to help :)
Why would you want to? The old BMW engine is probably better.
Baling wire, hammer super glue, pliers,.six pack or two of beer. Several days and a girl friend that works on cars
oxy torch big hammer plenty of beer
Bear in mind roberto the chevy is rear wheel driven i think so that may be a problem to start with . personally i wouldnt touch a bmw have fun
when u become an engineer
1. get some friends round.
2. open boot.
3. get friends to help lift chevrolet engine into boot.
4 attempt to close boot, u'll probably need some rope at this point.
5 crack open a cold beer and congratulate urself on just how easy that was.
Hi With Great difficulty I expect ha ha
Unless your shell is mint and you have experience, do not bother as is great deal of work. Would be much simpler to go for larger BMW engine 2.5 is a nice engine and can be found with wiring loom plus all ancillaries etc for small amount of money.
They make kits for applications like this. I've seen a 302 engine go in a Mazda rx7, And even a 350 engine in believe it or not a Miata! And oh my god they were fast.
Why??
Disassemble,open door,toss all parts in.
i've got the easy way to do this >>dont!! it sounds like a pain in the a. s .s
With enormous difficulty
don't. why would you do that to such a great engine. put it back into the Chevrolet. try a corvette
firstly you will need to remove the bonnet, save this you will need it later.then (i'm assuming you already have the bmw engine out) hire a styhl saw from any reputable tool hire company, metal cutting blade attached. now were the grill meets the front cross member cut through on each side(keep this bit you may be able to rivet it back in later.) when this is removed you will now have a clear and unrestricted access path. so just push the v8 into this gap. if there is enough of a gap left at the front pop rivet the cross member back in place, it doesn't have to be a great job it's only for show. now you can just place the bonnet over the top and there you have it a v8 chevvie in a beamer. if you wanted to drive the car i think you will have to get someone who knows were all the bits connect too hope this has of some assistance regards
You have to do major modifying to the engine mounts and some tweaking to the trans mounts, then possibly have a custom driveshaft made because you will probably need a shorter one. If you don't have the fabricating skills or tools, you are looking at a couple grand to have it all done properly.
very unlikely. is the e32 a V8 as well? even if you got the engine in, you have to mate the transmissions which really cannot happen as it needs a new housing, etc.
.
Lots of Patience ! First of all you need to make sure you have room under the hood!
Then your best bet is to pull the BMW engine & transmission! Lower Chevy engine into the engine/transmission into the engine compartment! Measure and make new mounts for the Chevy / BMW frame conversion. I used cardboard to make templets of them for a conversion i did ! Then fabricate them from 1/4' steel plate. I used a piece of angle iron for my transmission mount. Work out the problems related to mounting alternator AC etc..
ANd there you have it ! One BMW with a Chevy 350 engine!
