Are women better drivers than men?

Answers:
Well I dont know how to answer this without generalising. I think among young people they are better. Among middle aged people probably men are better. Older people - about the same. I know womens insurance premiums are generally lower. But then men probably do more milage ( sales reps, delivery drivers etc) than woman so statistically are more likely to have an accident. Men tend to be impatient. Women tend to be hesitant. Lets call it a draw!
probably, but men are funner drivers
im a women and i say no. women are safer drivers (most of the time) but not better.
yes we are, but the guys will not agree
I think they are safer drivers. They don't have burn off racers with other drivers etc etc. But I have to say they are a little over cautious at T junctions and roundabouts.
this question will surely get a response and yes women are much better drivers than men (statistics say the same thing )
believe it or not the answer is yes, as long as they don't have a phone in the car.
Oh dont start everyone off!
Safer as far as sensible goes. however driving skill wise blokes are better!
Statistically, women are involved in more minor traffic accidents which don't involve going through insurance IE a prang. Men however are more likely to be involved in a serious RTA.
not at all, women are honestly terrible drivers. I know that women get better insurance rates, but its only cause men like to take risks. Women from what I have seen in my life are really just bad drivers.
No, but they aren't really worse either. Both sexes do different things badly/stupidly. Men are more likely to have an accident due to inappropriate speed, whereas women are more likely to have an accident due to lack of coordination or concentration - albeit at a much lower speed than an average "mens" accident.
Are blacks better than whites? Is BBC better than ITV? Do people with blue eyes smell nicer than those with green? Is Daz better than Persil? Is my Mum a better cook than yours?

So many questions, so little time.
they surely r creep creep
yes much better
Yup they are better! Better in the back seat!

:P

I think both the sexes are equal.
maybe, but they need to stop trying to put on their makeup whilst driving..
At the outset after passing the test women are most certainly better drivers. Men, particularly young men believe that passing a test makes them into instant good drivers. Sadly this is far from the truth as the number of accidents involving young men is at a terrible level.
Young women take longer to get to know just what they can do driving a car and learn a little more road craft.
Unfortunately, and one cannot generalise, a lot of women, young women adopt a very cavalier attitude and though they tend not to weave and overtake in bad places they do speed given the chance.
There are good and bad in both sexes so let us all try to be responsible and observe the rules and the roads will become safer for the population at large.
In my experience in depends on the age. Boys in their teens tend to drive fast and take risks, where as girls won't and will be more sensible. However this sensibility turns to indecisiveness and general fear of driving, where as men eclipse into more careful drivers. I would say a confident female driver in her late twenties would be the best driver.
In general I would say no. I think men have a better grasp of the mechanics of driving a car, and even things like playing computer games when they were little will make their understanding better. This is a massive generalisation though and some women are very good drivers - like me!
of course not . give me a DODGE VIPER then we will see who is better .
Well i am a man and say women or SAFER than men and they are Better if they don't have a CELLPHONE in the car however I do stop more men for reckless driving than women. from time to time I do stop women reckless driving so I think it would be 50-50 deal CELLPHONES are the #1 problem on the road they cause more wrecks thanTeenagers
I'm a much better driver than my boyfriend, so on principle I'd have to say yes. He never really developed spatial thinking or reasoning abilities. He can't even parallel park or back-in park, and his driving is terrifying.
I think there is some evidence that women are, perhaps, better _motorists_ than men. That is to say, they are often more considerate and are less likely to take risks.
However, when it come to the actual skills of _driving_ then it is almost certain that men are better over all. This is possibly something to do with the male brain being better at tasks requiring excellent spatial ability.
If you take the world of motor sport, women are not usually in the top echelons, whether it is Formula racing or Rallying. NB I accept that there are some excellent female drivers in the latter sport, but they are still only a very small proportion.
Insurance statistics often declare that that women are better risks than men, but this statement needs qualifying. Women, as a group, drive fewer miles per annum than men, are likely to drive less powerful cars, frequently refuse to drive at night or on motorways, and generally take a more cautious attitude (or more responsible attitude, if you wish!) to motoring - often because they have children on board.
However, having said all this, I have been out with some dreadful male drivers, and some utterly superb female drivers - so maybe the question is really just a rhetorical one.
Driving along the motorway this morning, I looked over to my right and there was a woman in a brand new BMW doing 90 miles per hour with her face up close to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner!

I looked away for a couple of seconds and when I looked back I couldn't believe it - she was halfway over in my lane still working on that makeup!!

It scared me so much that I dropped my shaver, which knocked the bacon roll out of my other hand. In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees, the mobile fell from my ear and into the coffee between my legs causing it to splash and burn the jewels.

Naturally I screamed, which made me drop the cigarette out of my mouth, ruin my shirt and disconnect an important call!!

.. Women drivers, eh?
of course!
Contray infact! during a course of study in London they found out that the clutch plates in cars of women drivers got worn out more faster than those of their male counter parts because they were more tense while driving
I think so,...although women with SUV's and trucks driver faster and stay on the tail of the car.just as much as men NOW!
no
