Sloppy GearStick?
Answers:
pull the top of the shifter off and you will see the worn out piece of plastic they use as a bushing.take a piece of heater hose about 2 inches long and cut it into the same shape and lay it between th housing and the bushing then put the shifter back in. it will take up all the slack and mine is still pretty tight after me fixing it some 5 or so years ago.
superglue it in place, its great glue and very effective
mop it up, then aply some oil or take it to a garrage
Sounds like the bushing is worn on the gear stick housing. You may need a re-build on the gearbox.
Just cjeck the bushings. Most gearshifter linkages wear out with time. Replace the bushings and you should be good to go.
Pull of the boot that covers the stick near the floor. See if anything is worn out or loose. You have to pay with it and then ask a question.
Not only could it be a worn bushing, but it could also be worn gears as some makers will use plastic instead of metal in their gear boxes. What year is your vehicle?
Take the car to a shop and have the transmission fluid drained and replaced with all new high performance. For your type of car it should be the thick 150 kind. Also, I assume that your car is a rear traction kind, so, there's also a special kind of fluid for that, too.
