Car importing from Germany?

I'm buying a 53 plate Range Rover from Germany. It was UK registered but the owner took it with him when he moved to Germany. He is a private seller, not a trader.

He's willing to pay for insured ferry shipping and i want to know if it will be subject to any tax when it gets in a UK port. If so, how much roughly are we looking at? Or will it be exempt because its still in the EU or something?

Nothing to do with this question.
Do not have the cheek to reply to one of my questions again with your smart little remarks or you will find yourself being reported for abuse.
If you have nothing better to do then do it elsewhere.
take a look at the DVLA site which has the forms required for importing cars, as i understand it if it was uk registered before then tax was paid when it was originally paid for so no tax will be reqiured for it.

however check out the link below for more info:

Go to bed your only 15.
There should be no tax, because within the EU, you have free movement of goods. Having said that, you are looking at re-fitting the car to UK standards - I did this with a Ford Mondeo once, it cost more than the car was worth to get new headlights. Other than that, just roll her right in, get an MOT and a plate, done.
UK registered do not require any permission from DVLA
