What is the law relating to buying a new car in Bulgaria & driving it into Europe and not returning to Bulgari

I don't know about vat however we imported a car from Japan and it cost a fortune to put through the test so we could keep it here and then we had to register with the DVLA little things like she didn't have a fog light and we had to change the brakes and rewire the stereo and buy a band expander I could go on but to be honest there is so much I couldn't fit it on the page no one thing cost a tremendous amount but it does mount up be sure you are going in with your eyes open
Well Bulgarian people can come to the u.k as long as they treat British people like turd and promise to live on benefits and not leave. So a car should be easy!
Id wait a few months, assuming that Bulgria does join the EU ont he 1st of Jan 2007 then it will become much easier - just buy the car there,make sure VAT is paid then then its legit anywhere inside the EU.
However you may need to pay any car duty on new cars (this applies to the UK and no doubt ewlsewhere (I cant see any EU state missing out on that little earner)
if you are moving to another EU state as a premanent resident, then it would be wise to re-register the vehicle in that state and make sure you comply with all the insurance & tax requirements, otherwise you may have real problems if their is an accident or you get stopped by the police.
brave move though gettign a car from Bulgaria and potentailly exposing yourself to the possible hatred of locals at Bulgarians stealing their jobs.
