Whats the best deicer? or is there any other ideas to keep my windscreen frost free? apart from a garage?
Answers:
Most spray de-icers are propyl alcohol which removes the ice until it rapidly evaporates.
I make my de-icer with windscreen deicer for adding to the wash bottle and then adding about 5% glycerol - from a chemists - to the mix.
The initial squirt clears the ice rapidly and the glycerol keeps the screen clear for a long while.
If you want a mix to wipe or spray from an old spray bottle half and half Meths and water with 10% glycerol works well.

buy some methylated spirits from your diy shop and mix with water, put in a spray bottle. the meths are great for the wipers
There is a product called Rain Racer. Its a low friction compound which prevents rain sticking to screen it also makes frost easily removable.
a small tarp or blanket
I use a 2 litre milk carton filled with very warm water, I have used this for 10 years without a problem
Cooperman has already suggested a windscreen treatment.
The one I know of in the UK is called "RainX".
You apply it to the outside surface of the screen, and it makes the surface more slippery, so water (and frost) cannot stick so well.
If you still get some frost after applying this, it will scrape off more easily.
Use a proper plastic scraper to remove frost without damaging the glass.
You could put a cover over your windscreen, but these only work if the car is dry - if the car is already wet when you put the cover on, and it then freezes, it will be very hard to remove the ice.
Next time you change your car, consider one with a heated front windscreen (option on many Fords in Europe).
any old deicer will do or just use a srcaper what a slly question
