I'm sure many car drivers in the UK think the speed limit on 2 lane trunk roads is 50 mph when it's 60mph.

Many drivers just don't drive to suit the prevailing conditions. On many trunk roads in dry.clear, sunny conditions, in moderate traffic some folk dawdle along 35-40 mph in 60 mph zone. Why?They seem to not care abouy the hold ups and frustration they cause. In the Advanced drivers test you lose marks for 'failing to make appropriate safe progress'.

Answers:
actually the speed for cars and motorcycles on uk unrestricted dual carriageways is 70mph.
And your point is? or did you just fancy a rant
no what i think is even more annoying is when said driver does 40mph in a 60 limit but then continues doin 40mph in a 30 limit.i just imagine they are thinking 40 is my speed no matter what the road limit..or when your going from single lane to dual back to single and everyone stays in the single lane formation so that traffic backs up all the way , then they toot and try and block you when you go in the outer lane of the dual carriage.there i had my rant!
It is called a SPEED LIMIT. It is NOT compulsory for you to drive at 60mph!
I'm a courier, I drive at 60mph on motorways on the way back home to conserve fuel, for which I am paying out for.
Yes it's frustrating, but not everybody is as superb at driving as you so eminently are.
If by trunk road you mean Dual Carriageway - then the speed limit is 70mph for cars and motorcycles.
Quite correct, national speed limit applies 60 mph
unless you re a lorry ( lgv old hgv ) 50 mph
with you all the way sadie, the times you'll see someone driving at 50 on an a road and still stay at 50 when the speed limit drops to 40. take em off the road
Speed limits may not be totally compulsary, but let's face it, why drive at half the limit when your vehicle is capable of driving at the full 60, and the conditions allow you to do so safely?
Plenty of speedometers are up to 10 mph slow a 60 and lots of older drivers could get a disabled bage because they are technically blind
Read yer U.K highway code. On Dual Carriageways the speed limit is 70 mph same as on a motorway. On a single carriageway like a country lane the speed limit is 60 mph if its signed as national speed limit. Remember its a LIMIT not a Target. Drive Safe
