full bmw service history, paint chips especially on the bonnet, then its down to personal stuff such as has the car been smoked in, state of the alloys - have they been kerbed and the tyres, do they match or need replacing

Bring a magnet and run it over the car. Where the magnet doesn't stick is where the car has had accidents that required repairs. Actually, just bringing a magnet is what will put the willies up the salesman if he's sly.
I would imagine a nice new beama should be pretty sweet, maybe reverse it back from where it has been parked and see if any fluids have leaked, take it for a drive and make sure it does ont make any strange noises and make sure it does not heat up too much!
