I have a Bomag BP 18/45-2 compacting plate that is not working right.?

It goes for 5 min or so then stops, the engins still runs but it will not plate. When the spark plug is taken out it is all black with suit. when it cleaned it will go for another five min or so.
Any ideas out there.

Try Changing or cleaning the air filter, also if it is two stroke
(most wackers aren't) you might be putting the wrong mix petrol in (ie: too much oil) also is the petrol you are using old? I ask this because unleaded petrol tends to go off , I had problem with disc cutter ,chainsaw and my belle wacker plate using old petrol.
has to be fuel/mixture problem ,make sure carb and fuel tank are clean,no water in fuel tank ,check choke control is not sticking ,run engine until warm adjust fuel/air screw on carb until the machine starts to raise itself on the compact mode, should then run as required.
is the engine running hard or just tikking over as it mite be the centrifugal clutch slipping or belt as it heats up it expands and slips
