Ford mondeo?

my heater blower will only work on no:4 setting have been told its a common fault any advice on how to sort the problem out would be gratefull.

Answers:
It's the blower resistor pack that has gone, and it is a common problem. Go to the site below for a full rundown of how to fix the problem
Take it to a reputable auto electrician and get him to repair the motor speed resistor network.

Shouldn't cost more than $50-$60 depending on how hard it is to gain access to.
its the speed switch
just a new switch, if you can push it out from the back it may even clean up using a garage air line
it could be a blocked pollen filter, but this depends on the year of manufacture. the pollen filter is located at the rear of the engine compartment passenger side.
IT COULD BE THE SWITCH AT FAULT HERE , BUT IF NOT THE ACTUALL FAN INSIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS ONLY FOUR BOLTS AND A MULTI PLUG SO IT IS EASY TO CHANGE IF NEED BE.
GOOD LUCK.
sounds like the blower switch. easy job!
