Have you run your Diesel on Vegetable Oil or Bio Diesel ? did it work out for you ?

Answers:
Yes as stated by another member the diesel engine was originally run on veg. oil or nut oil. You can run on veg. oil but it's not wise to run on 100% it's thicker than diesel and will shorten the life of your injection pump! you can run 50-50 oil/diesel with out any worries in winter you may want to do 60 diesel 40 oil.
For about £50 onebay you can get a pre heater system to make sure the oil is heated to thin it before you run it through your pump If you buy one of these you can have a small tank for diesel for starting and stopping and you the oil all the rest of the time.
I wouldn't recommend running on 100% oil as you will ruin your pump eventually and you will be well annoyed one cold morning when your car wont start as the oil in the pump and filter is to thick!
Start by mixing it with diesel and see how she runs. The best pumps (strongest) are Bosch.

i had to buy a converter kit first and it was so much cheaper cuz if you go to mcdonalds they will give you the oil cuz they have to pay for it to be taken away
I am currently running my peugeot 405 turbo diesel estate on veggie oil. Ran it 100% pure through the summer but am now diluting with diesel to aid cold starting in the mornings. I found I got more MPG with veggie oil and it seemed to run smoother.
I don't know why people think they have to buy some kind of kit. The diesel engine was designed to run on vegetable oil. Mine hasn't been converted. I simply buy bottles of oil and use it.
Macdonalds won't give oil away. It is against their health and safety rules apparently. Besides, you have to prat about putting it through microfilters in order not to clog your injectors. That's why I simply buy bottles of veggie oil.
Definately works ok.
Big problem is when you do it illegally.
Major "NO NO" in the eyes of the customs and Excise boys.
Evading duty, almost as bad as running on red derv!
Dont try it on new HDi engines / common rail type.
If you run it neat on cooking oil, winter months will give you cold starting problems.
Older non turbo engines run better than new turbo'd jobs.
Old Fords and Pugs ok as the engines arent very refined or technically advanced.
