How do i get my starter motor off? (94 petrol mondeo)?
Answers:
Are you doing this job from under the car? You'll never get it off from the top. It's a sh*it of a job, and you need fairly unrestricted access to beneath the car, such as having the car on a lift.
If you are getting under the car on jacks or stands, make sure it is properly and securely supported. You don't want a tonne of Mondeo on your head. It'll fu*ck your day up.
certainly on the diesel version you need to remove the front engine mounts and it looks the same for the petrol version. It can be a right fiddle and frankly a garage isnt going to charge you more than an hour of labour so get down to Charlie Browns or Lex Autos.theyĺl even fit a recon for you if you ask nicely.
It is easier to remove the starter from the underside of the car. 1st remove the negative lead from the battery. jack your car up as high as you can. support it on axle stands. remove the wiring first. should be 1 10mm nut and 1 13mm nut the wiring should then just about move out of the way. (it is a tight squeeze.) Then it's just the 3 13mm bolts that hold the motor to the gearbox.
