Why do turbos fail on my renault espace?
Answers:
Do you let the engine idle before you turn the ignition off, if not, fit a turbo protector, which lubricates the turbo during the period that it still spins after you have turned the ignition off, as that way it still gets oil on the spinning parts.
French rubbish.
useing wrong oil or the oilway to ur turbo is bloked so ur turbo seizes up
Its the car, change it as soon as you can.
Are you sure you're british then , You've done a wonderful job of spelling RENAULT , are you sure you shouldnt be on the Togolese yahoo answeres sight then ?
It's a RENAUlt in'it , its an espAce in'It , tooo much espace between the soles an d the pedals mate , , them frog cars you've gotta make sure to keep contact wiv the pedals at ALL times , bit of araldite will sort that out !
when you turn your motor off when it is hot you oil and coolent stop flowing, these cool your turbo. after the engine is turned off, the turbo still has lots of heat and the result is called coking. this is what a turbo timer is for. so if you run your car hard and then turn it off without letting it cool down some this couls be your problem.
You havent given enough information ie diesel or petrol and the circumstances around the failures. How many have you fitted? If the new one failed immediately after fitting, then it is most likely a blocked oil feed pipe which runs from the main oil supply to the turbo bearings. There is alot of guff on here about it being a French motor, some of it quite justified but renault doesnt make the turbos that are fitted to the car, they use the same supplier as most of the other major manufacturers. I believr that its a Garret turbo that is fitted. Always check the oil supply before starting the car after fitting a new turbo. If in doubt, fit a new one. Then let the car idle for about 30 mins before taking it out for a drive.
BAD CAR .EXTERMINATE IT
