I want 2 str open top sports car big enough to carry golf clubs and powercaddi in boot. £5000 limit. Ideas?

Answers:
While not exactly a sports car, a series 107 Mercedes SL might fill the bill, especially one that costs less than your max limit. In addition, these cars are very dependable. Although I like the 560 engine much better, the 380 series is a bit better on gas and uses regular. If you do go with a 380, try and find an 85 or at least one that has had a double timing chain installed: Mercedes recognized the mistake and fixed it in 85 but many of the cars have been retrofitted by this time.
Please note that while the earlier 450's are more plentiful, they also get much worse gas mileage (3 speed automatic versus 4 speeds) and are a bit more trouble prone than the 380 and 560. In England you might even have the wonderful 500 SL which is even faster than the American 560.
Have a reality check?!
I've got a saab 9-3 and it would fit the bill nicely

Audi Cabriolet
Saab 9-3 convertible
Vauxhall Astra convertible
BMW 3 Series (E36)
Alfa Romeo Spider

I realise they're not all 2 seaters, but then I think you'd struggle to get the golfing gear in the boot of a two seater.
My first thoughts were MX5 or MG-TF, but I doubt you'd get your clubs in either, let alone a trolley.

You may have to compromise somewhere
