Another strange question whilst I realise that catalytic converters are an important part of keeping?
Answers:
i own a repair shop, and unfortunately your right they do become something of a disposal item, and they can be recycled ,but people don't think to much about it right now,but some day its going to come back and bite us all in the butt for what we have done to the environment,i have a company that picks, all my old ones up,and recycles them, but most shops will just throw them away ,so sooner or later were going to have to pay the price for it,they wont rot away like ordinary metals do they,ll be there one hundred years from now,but you bring up a good point there ,and everyone needs to wake up,and realize what you do today will come back on you tomorrow,,good question there,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
I shouldn't cause yourself unnecessary anxiety over it. It is the volume of cars that is the problem, one thinks.
just another problem. just compare it to how energy can not be destroyed, it can only change from one form to another.
They are melted down and turned into Argos jewellery.
They contain precious metals and are recycled.
they, like all metals can be melted down, it is a waste of materials if they are given up to a land waste site.. you should go to bed easily knowin that your catalytic conveter is goin to go to good use after ur finisished with it! nothing made of pure metal should ever go to wasye!
they contain platinum and anyone that does not recycle theirs is nuts

they are shredded as they contain various precious metals inc platinum and reused to make more cats they are actually worth about £35 each scrap value
The old catalytic converters are normally exchanged when a new one is bought. The old one returns to the manufacturer who recover and recycle the expensive metals that are in it.
