How can I verify a car owner's name if I have an address and car registration?

I am about to buy a car, I have the sellers address, car registration number but want to cross check address with name, is there an online database I can use to check or another method??

The only ones I have ever found cost money. Have you tried calling the local police to check it out for you? Tell them you want to make sure everything is legit. I had to have them come out and do a vehicle check for me, but I wasn't smart enough to do it before i purchased the car. However, it all cam out ok. I hope this helps.

isn't the first line on a registration the NAME?
If in UK do a HPI check, this can be done via the AA or RAC and costs apx £40, the HPI would tell you who is current keeper, outstanding finance and any accident details/repairs.
