Why do men discriminate against women being in the motor trade?
Answers:
Because men ASSUME women only know about hair, nails and makeup..their little brains can't comprehend that we might know the difference between an exhaust manifold and an intake manifold!
you know what a wheel is, wtf
fair play to you doing your degree. men get threatned by women doing in what society calls a mans job. you go girl.
I don't.
Sadly it is just a stereotype. Extremely patronising and sexist people would say women are only good at cleaning, sewing and so on. People slightly less prejudice would say women are good at language and verbal stuff, whereas men are good at mechanical, mathematical and spatial things. I did my psychology dissertation on stereotypes and they linger in peoples minds regardless of evidence, such as your degree.
their idiots.. afraid they don't know as much as you so they have to talk like that to "impress" you.
my mum is a car sales "person", and a lot of customers ask for instead of the male one simply because they think my mum is going to be more honest lol, and that includes men asking too, other than that, she does everything the same as the male one, a lot of people are surprised she has been in the business so long because of how men would be about a woman selling them a car, but shes been there 7 years now
Not all men do, perhaps you've been unlucky. But it has always been and for the most part still is, a male orientated profession
Thumb you nose at them, your probably better than most of them. As an aside, did you know the Queen of England was a motor mechanic during WW2..
I work in the salvage industry(breaker's yard) and it seems we welcome females in the workplace.
take it from a man the reason is men are ignorant most men think that women cant even drive because they have seen more women in accidents than men however little do they know about the sad fact that it is actually men in the most accidents not women also men cant get past the "i am right and you cant do anything to prove me wrong" so that in itself is a small factor in mens stupidity. so i have to say ignore the fuckers and go on with your bad self, if you have to carry your cirtificate in your purse or wallet to show them dumb fucks that you actually know about cars hell another thing you can do is build a car in your garage or driveway. then you would definatly show them
it is a combination of several things. one is fear that a woman may be better then they are at it. another is jealousy.you are probably better at it then some men. and then there is the sterotype that men are mechanics etc..
My daughter has helped me work on cars since she was old enough to know what a screw driver was. I encourage all women to take an auto repair class.maybe they don't want to be mechanics.but it gives them the knowledge needed when they take the car to the garage and the mechanic tells them they need a muffler bearing.
It's a fact.women are in the work force and doing every job a man can do and doing it well.
You go woman.and don't stop where you are.keep it up and go for the top.you will make it.
Good luck and thanks for the question.
Me thinks you dont like the British, and you got a downer on men, and a big spanner on your shoulder, and you support the IRA!! What the heck! at least you managed to get the right category this time! Just !!
It's an extremely untrue stereotype that you are fostering by claiming it happens to you when in reality it doesn't. I run a towing service and repair facility, and what I have found is that females try to pretend they are dumb and helpless as if that will get them some kind of a discount. It doesn't, and they are treated the same as men.
like fair enough, but the guys that do still talk down to me as if i haven't a clue. your right you havent got a clue
I bought my last car from a female salesperson, she was very helpful, knowledgeable, and had lovely t1ts.
thats just a typical guy, I guess they don't associate women with fixing cars and mechanical knowledge. I'm proud of you, maybe we will see you on a nascar pit crew someday. good luck.
