The electric windows on my bmw e36 m3 1994 have started to play up ,they go up so far then stop and come down?
Answers:
give the runners for the window a good clean or spay with a silicone lubricant as eletric windows half a safety in them if they get to a position not at top of movement and cant go anyfurther they retact back down [so you don't get your head stuck in them] try that first before ripping into your electrics
CHOULDA BOUGHTA CHEVY
u need a new eletric switch in th door!
if you look under the back seat there should be two black boxes. Those boxes hold the fuses for the electrical parts. You probably need to replace them.
Well I had a problem yesterday, read my manual and found all it was was a 15 amp fuse! Hope you find the same easy answer. ;)
Under th back seat there should be two black boxes open them see fuses check them replace if you need to. Good luck
replace the window regulator with the new improve regulator.don"t change it if you don"t have auto repair experience or else you will break other parts
It is probably the motor getting old. It has the thermal cut out to that stops it if it meets an obstruction, with a new motor it will go up in one, on an old motor you have to hold the button till it is up. I have a coupe with frameless windows, a new motor on one side works properly, the old motor on the passenger side is like yours. Try cleaning the rubber or just have a new motor fitted, unfortunately £200.00 plus at a main dealer.
Bad earth on the switch. You can either take a wire to the negative feed on the back of the switch and connect it directly to the chassis (messy but easy), or clean the negative terminal, and replace the current wire with a new one (much more difficult, not really worth the bother unless cleaning the terminal does the trick).
