Why does the indicator signal flash green on the inside of a car, but orange on the outside??!?
Answers:
Orange lights on a dashboard normally indicate minor faults (eg. engine management), and red light serious faults (eg brakes). Indicator tell tale lamps are green so you don't think a fault light has come on. Green lights on the outside of cars would probably cause carnage at traffic lights.
my indicator light flashes orange inside they obviously ran out of orange bulbs when they made your car.
Because it's a friendly safety message to you, but a warning to the other drivers. Yellow or red lamps on your dashboard indicate failures in the car.
So you can tell whether you're inside or outside your car.
I had a 67 satellite that had the green dash light, and one amber one pointing at me from the top of the fender too.
it could flash white on the out side too.it is called coloured bulbs
Unless you're colour blind, your eye is more sensitive to red and amber light that it is to green or blue light. That's why brake lights and indicator lights are red and amber. Cars normally use green and blue lights on the dashboard so you're not distracted. Red lights are used on the dashboard for emergencies.
Because it does!
DOT regulations specify Amber lights on front of vehicle, Red lights on rear of vehicle.
Dash lights can be any color that you wish, you either need the appropriate bulb or a cover for the clear bulbs.
I would say that the car makers choose their colors either on cost savings or the thought that green is a neutral color that will stand out on the dash for the driver.
The outside is orange even without the indicator on
Because the plod would pull you over if they flashed green on the outside and orange inside, and you would not know if your oil pressure was fluctuating or if the indicator was on
Because the bulbs are different colors
Perhaps the green is verdigris ? Does your car leak when it rains ?
