Wheres the best place to get rid of number plate '11 DJ' & how much might it be worth?
Answers:
Be careful of con-merchants!!
I am in the process of selling a similar number (2 letters and 2 digits) and the valuations have varied between £8000 and £15000. As with anything else, it is worth what someone will pay for it, but I would have thought that 11 DJ would be worth a significant amount, and probably worth more than my own number.
I allowed some agencies to try to sell it (NOT on an exclusive basis) and I received a call from one saying that they could return me £4500 for it (I had given the minimum as £10000).
You can imagine my response; the following day they called me again, and said that they could now offer £9500. On principle, I withdrew it from them. They were asking £14995 for it!!
I am sure that not all agencies are like this.
If you do sell it, it may be advisable to retain a solicitor to assist you with setting up an Escrow account - to protect you and a genuine buyer. Because of the transfer process, whether from a vehicle or from a retention certificate, there are several potential pitfalls from both sides, and it is not the same as handing over an item in exchange for cash.
I guess it is the same as selling anything, just take sensible precautions.
I hope this helps.
www.regtransfers.co.uk
www.regtransfers.co.uk - looking at that number you should expect thousands of pounds. Take a look on the website and just look at how much these types of plates are fetching - might be able to sell to a big name Disc Jockey! You must have all the documentation i.e. a holding certificate or if it is still on a vehicle, the vehicle must have a current MOT certificate - good luck selling.
well ebay is the way not to shure how much u will get for them but do that people will bid on them from all over the world if thay like tham u will get a good price
You could try the classifieds in Autocar, a number like that should fetch a good sum, do your research on afew websights first and good luck.
